Ok, Transitions Clubbers, you will need to decide how much willpower to exert here. I’ve hidden all the pictures below the excerpt so you can be happily surprised. I also knit up a sample tube before I shipped them all off….so you can see what you might get once you’ve knit it. I’m so excited about how they turned out that I just had to share while the excitement is fresh!! (If you aren’t in Transitions….gawk away!! Please don’t taunt those who are in the club. 🙂 )
This is what is in the package. Hmmmmm…..looks, um…..messy.
Here is the same Fillet, but now frogged and straightened a bit. Ahhhhh…..ooooo….interesting color speckling! Don’t look any further down this post if you still want to be surprised by the knitting…….
Here is one ball, and the second ball knit into a sample sock tube. The tube is 64 stitches at around 7 stitches per inch.
Still here? Here’s the whole thing, stretched Sea to Shining Sea. Because the new skeins of Tiger Twist are 400+ yards, there is great potential for running out of sock before running out of Fillet. (That’s a 15 inch ruler for reference…..looks like knee socks to me!) So I decided to follow the song and lay out the colors a bit repeating….it’s like the country anyway….sea, fruited plains, purple mountain majesties, amber waves of grain, and spacious skies. This way, you can start toe up OR top down, and get a full repeat going. If you didn’t care for a section, you could take that out, too.
Here are some close ups of the sections. Yours will look a bit different, as each Fillet was hand painted individually.
So you see…..there is some amazing color behind my crazy madness with the Fillets. Hope you enjoy knitting the socks. And if you have an idea for March……..leave a comment here, or drop by the Rav group for discussion.
Wow! That is beautiful!
It’s beautiful. I’m glad I’m in your club!!!!! And I love the March fillet. Can’t wait for the next one.
